Students enrolled in Programming & Applied Technology at Stephen T. Badin High School learn fundamental programming techniques using current web development software. Many programming languages and utilities are explored to create vibrant, content-filled and user-friendly web sites.

Second-year students concentrate on server-side applications, databases and media-rich content for dynamic sites.

ONES - For Week of September 21

Monday - check out these two pages and see what they say about how color is used in HTML:
ComputerHope.com and W3Schools.com
Then, experiment with color using your font tag and NEW! by modifying your body tag using the BGCOLOR="#XXXXXX" or BGCOLOR="colorname" attribute.

Tuesday and Wednesday - you'll be reworking your personal sites. Start Assignment 1.

Thursday - Finish Assignment 1.

Friday - Review

Tuesday/Wednesday - Lesson 3, Quiz 3, Exercise 3. Submit Quiz then Exercise as completed.

Thursday - Badin site work.

Friday - No class, in-service day.

I'd also like you gentlemen to complete the same steps I've asked the 1st year students to do this week (see below) OR Install Dreamweaver on your home computers to perform the same tasks.

Monday - finish home, assignment, and labs pages. Print all code. Lecture item - relative and absolute paths in hyperlinks.

Tuesday - b, i tags. Inserting images and ALT tags. Sizing graphics.

Wednesday - Sizing, continued. Resolutions and alternate browsers.

Thursday - Site work.

Friday - No class, in-service day.


ASSIGNMENT 2 -
  1. Download FireFTP and install in Firefox on your home computer.
  2. Configure so that you can reach your student site from home.
  3. Create a new page, ASSIGNMENT 2, containing a screen-shot of your home FireFTP configuration, along with all other required information and tags.
  4. Link to this page from your Assignments page.
  5. Due no later than Sunday, September 20.

Tuesday - create your Home page, connect and upload to your server. Then, create an Assignments page and a Labs page. Use all tags you have learned up to this point.

Wednesday - we'll expand our tag vocabulary with comments, and explore additional attributes and values for tags you've used.

Thursday - Hyperlinks; relative and absolute paths.

Friday - Back to your sites to practice!
